Holidate (2020)
Two strangers, sick of holiday dating pressure, agree to be each other's plus-one for a whole year of holidays.

Sloane is done with her family's pitying looks every Christmas; Jackson is done with holiday dates who expect a ring by New Year. Their deal: be each other's platonic 'holidate' for every holiday on the calendar — no feelings, no pressure. A year of Valentine's Days, Fourths of July, and family dinners tests the fine print.
Holidate knows exactly which movie it is spoofing — it says so out loud — and then cheerfully becomes that movie anyway, only saltier. Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey have the timing for it, and Kristin Chenoweth runs away with every scene as the aunt who coined the term. Because it starts at Christmas and spends a year earning its way back, the holiday bookends land harder than most streaming rom-coms manage. Grown-up, funny, and honest about why the season makes single people want to hide.
