White Christmas (1954)
Two song-and-dance men, two sisters, one Vermont inn, and a general who needs saving.

Bob Wallace and Phil Davis team up after the war as a hit act, then follow two singing sisters to a snowy Vermont lodge — run by their beloved old commanding officer, whose business is failing. The fix is a Christmas show, a little romance, and a lot of Irving Berlin. The best-selling Christmas song got its definitive film here.
The title song was already a phenomenon before this film existed — Bing Crosby introduced it in Holiday Inn in 1942, won an Oscar for it, and his recording became one of the best-selling singles of all time. This 1954 film, the first released in Paramount's widescreen VistaVision process, builds an entire story around the song's meaning: entertainers repaying the general who led them through the war. Danny Kaye replaced an injured Donald O'Connor and matched Crosby beat for beat. It remains the definitive big, warm, Technicolor Christmas musical.
