The Lemon Drop Kid (1951)
Bob Hope as a racetrack tout who owes the mob by Christmas Eve.

Swindling a gangster's girlfriend leaves the Lemon Drop Kid owing $10,000 by Christmas — so he invents a charity for old ladies and recruits every tout in New York to rattle collection pots as fake Santas. The film introduced 'Silver Bells,' now a standard. Hope's cowardly charm carries it all.
