Scrooge (1970)
Dickens as a big, brassy London musical, with Albert Finney dancing on Scrooge's grave.
This lavish musical adaptation sends Ebenezer Scrooge through the familiar night of spirits with songs, crowds, and a trip to hell itself in the extended future sequence. Finney, only 34, plays both the young and the ancient Scrooge. 'Thank You Very Much' earned an Oscar nomination and became the showstopper.
