A Christmas Carol (1984)
George C. Scott's Scrooge: the most commanding of the straight adaptations.

In Victorian London, the wealthy, cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge faces Marley's warning and the three spirits in a production filmed on location in Shrewsbury, England. Director Clive Donner had edited the 1951 version; this one matches it for atmosphere and adds Scott's volcanic performance. Many families rate it the finest Carol of all.
