Scrooge (1951)
Alastair Sim's Scrooge remains the performance every other Scrooge is measured against.

Miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his partner Jacob Marley and three spirits who walk him through his past, present, and possible future. The 1951 adaptation (released as A Christmas Carol in the US) is the darkest and most faithful of the classic versions, and Sim's transformation in the final act is genuinely joyful.
