Black Nativity (2013)
Langston runs from Baltimore to Harlem — and into his family's faith and music.
A streetwise teen, sent to his estranged grandparents in Harlem for Christmas, finds a reverend grandfather (Forest Whitaker), a grandmother (Angela Bassett) steeped in gospel, and a family fracture his birth created. Adapted from Langston Hughes's 1961 play, with Jennifer Hudson, Tyrese Gibson, and Mary J. Blige singing the story's soul.
